Nvidia CEO Visits TSMC, Confirms Talks With U.S. Over China Chips

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang visited partner TSMC in Taipei on Friday, as the chipmaker remains at the center of U.S.-China tensions over access to advanced AI processors. Huang confirmed that Nvidia is in discussions with Washington regarding a successor to the H20 chip for the Chinese market, while stressing that the final decision lies with the U.S. government.

Reports suggest Nvidia is developing a new Blackwell-based chip, the B30A, which would offer greater performance than the H20. Although sales of the H20 recently resumed after U.S. approval, Nvidia subsequently instructed Foxconn and Amkor to halt related work and also notified Samsung.

Chinese regulators have raised security concerns about Nvidia’s chips, prompting some domestic firms to scale back purchases. Still, Huang reiterated that shipping the H20 to China poses no security risks, adding that he was “very grateful” for the U.S. approval to resume sales.
